Finally, the wait is marks the official launch of the brand new Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo at the 2012 Paris Motor Show!

Revealed to the world’s press in Paris today ahead of the official public opening of the show on Saturday, 29th September, the all-new Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo is designed to be the most dynamic Clio yet.

Aside from the car’s stance, the external appearance has had a radical overhaul – not least the fact the new Clio will be the first incarnation of the car in its 22 year history to be built solely in five-door form. Concealed rear door handles though enhance the thoroughbred sporting lines.

With a striking new front-end based on the look of the DeZir concept car, New Renault Clio features a more prominent Renault diamond on the front grille while chrome detailing, and LED daytime running lights, add to the head-turning appeal.

Of course, a heavily disguised Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo appeared at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in the capable hands of Renault’s Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares. Today’s unveiling in Paris marks the globe’s first ‘official’ look at Renault’s newest hot-hatch which is expected to go on sale in the UK from summer 2013.

Powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, mated to an EDC dual clutch transmission, the new Clio is designed to deliver improved efficiency. The 16-valve four-cylinder powerplant develops 200hp at 6,000rpm but has an extra 25 Nm of torque compared with Clio Renaultsport III.

The engine includes cutting edge technologies such, as the DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) cam followers developed from Formula One and Variable Valve Timing (VVT). In daily driving, the EDC transmission is docile and particularly effective in sporty driving, with three modes including a ‘race’ option.

Inspired by motorsport, the steering column-mounted gear shift paddles – a first for Renault – offer better comfort and speed than a manual gearbox and in the aforementioned ‘race’ mode gear changes can be made in just 150 milliseconds.

Showing its Renaultsport bloodline,  New Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo  offers two different chassis options – ‘Sport’, offering  optimum balance of sportiness and comfort in everyday motoring and  ‘Cup’ offering a more hardcore experience for trackday enthusiasts.

New Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo offers an enviable range of comfort features such as MediaNav, an all new centre console with a 7” fully integrated touchscreen complete with features such as Satellite Navigation, Arkamys radio with Renault Bass reflex system for greater sound clarity as well as and Bluetooth radio with USB.  An upgrade to this system is Renault R-Link which includes TomTom Live Satellite Navigation, an application store & Arkamys radio with 3D sound.  New Clio Renaultsport 200 also retains familiar features such as  hands-free key card, rear parking sensors with rear camera and climate control.

The styling, as you would expect, is entirely new and features a Formula One-style front blade plus a new diffuser and spoiler generating extra downforce. The car has a unique grille and spoiler to the standard car, specific front and rear bumpers, and 17-inch wheels – although 18-inch alloys are an option.  Add a dual tailpipe exhaust system and you have a true attention grabber.

Inside the cabin, the ambience is sporting with red the dominant colour. Bucket seats, with leather upholstery optional, provide extra lateral support, and there are a host of opportunities to personalise the dashboard and interior trim.

To coincide with the unveiling of the fourth generation of the definitive hot-hatch, a presentation site promoting the newest member of the Renault family has today gone live. There is also a portal for mobile devices at

Featuring fantastic imagery, great video content, lots of information and goodies such as a choice of desktop wallpapers, the sites enable Renaultsport enthusiasts and newcomers to the brand alike to find out more details about the latest addition to the Renaultsport family.
